Infographic: CAD Software In Manufacturing Take 2

We are excited to release the second take of our CAD Software in Manufacturing blog article. To complement our first article, we’ve added an infographic outlining some major events in the development of CAD, as well as a section on the future of CAD. You can read the original CAD Software In Manufacturing here. Enjoy, and be sure to share with your friends!

CAD Software in The Future

There is a lot of speculation about the future of CAD, but a large part of it revolves around moving away from the 2-dimensional workspace toward a 3D, touch based design system. This can be accomplished already through 3D monitors or holograms. This provides the user with a more lifelike perspective. In addition, some designers can already interact with 3D holograms and build them with nothing more than their hands. Monitors can also be interacted with via motion sensors. A recent video from SpaceX and Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk manipulating rocket parts with his bare hands.

Thus, the future of CAD brings designers one step closer to shaping metals and materials in a lifelike fashion. Most of the necessary technology already exists, and has even been compiled in setups like the Leonar3Do virtual reality design space. The manufacturing, design, and engineering industries will never be the same!
